Movie Clubs will be held each month of the year. These are two-fold opportunities to discuss a movie that is either profoundly awesome or supremely entertaining (at least according to Jeremy). There will be one scheduled showing of the movie at Jeremy’s house each month, and to reserve your seat, use the Reservation Form below! Address information will be sent to those who reserve seats. To see the calendar, click directly on the word EVENTS in the menu above (not on one of the sub-menus that pops up under it).

Oscars Mega-Viewing Event (Throughout February)
For a span of one week (February 18-24), every Oscar Nominated Best Picture for 2019 (except the Netflix-exclusive Roma) will be showing on big screens in a special event hosted by Cinemark theaters (in central Iowa, this is held at both Ames and Jordan Creek theaters). Additionally, all or most movies are typically available on DVD/BRD or iTunes by the date of the Oscars (Feb 24).
You should watch them! I believe my Oscars party attendance is probably already well past the fire marshal's allowable capacity of our house, but that doesn't mean you can share your opinions with me on Facebook, in person, or in the phone. |

SPECIAL EVENT: Room (2015)
Held captive for years in an enclosed space, a woman and her young son finally gain their freedom, allowing the boy to experience the outside world for the first time.
Viewing Date: Room can be very hard to watch, but it is a powerful, deeply affecting movie. Because of this, I am considering watching Room an event with no viewing party. Watch it sometime during BD365 and talk to me about it in some way (text, face-to-face, phone, e-mail, whatever)! Participation will earn you a Jawa Badge! Specialty Beverage: Whatever reaffirms your faith in humanity. Maybe wine. |
SPECIAL EVENT: The Laramie Project (2002)
Adapted from the play of the same name, The Laramie Project is a powerful narrative of the events leading up to, during, and immediately following the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. It is a testament to both the goodness of humanity and the darkness in some rare few souls and an important depiction of a tragic, important event that now lies only 20 years in the past.
